FANG DIE MAUS Version 1.0 (Win95,98,ME,NT 4.0,WIN2000,XP,WINDOWS7)

Thinking and puzzle games with a twist...

Creative Computing Morristown, New Jersey USA

Catch the mice The goal of this game is to find four mice (originally dirt worms)
hiding in different squares of a 10 by 10 grid. The origin (bottom left) is the point
1,1 and is guessed by left-clicking on an empty square. The target coordinates
correspond to a normal XY axis, the first number is the number of units to the right
of the origin and the second number is the distance above the origin.

You have 10 attempts (optionally 12,15) to find the four mice. After each attempt,
the computer tells you how close you are to each mouse. If you play with graph
paper and a compass, you should be able to find the mice in just 6 to 7 moves
using Loran's radio navigation rules.

This program (BASIC) was slightly modified by Bob Albrecht from the People's
Computer Company. It was originally written by students of Bud Valenti on the
SOLO project in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Multimedia and graphic implementation
of the program by Achim Kern KeHo Software 1998.

How do I play? To start a new game, simply press the "New Game" button.
The mice will then hide. Depending on your selection, you now have 10 to 15
attempts to find them. To do this, simply click on a gray field with the left
mouse button. If there is a mouse there, this will be indicated acoustically
and visually. If you have not found a mouse, a red square will appear
for orientation. You will also receive information about how far the mice are
from your current location.

If you manage to do it in less than 10 (optionally 12,15) moves you get praise
- otherwise you will unfortunately be boooooed....

Use the 10,12,15 attempts buttons to change the maximum number of attempts.
The BASIC CODE button shows you the original BASIC code of the original game
for learning purposes.
